INTRODUCTION TO WOOL SPINNING FOR BEGINnERS WITH JILL FARREL

With this 3 class series, you will learn and develop your technical experience with spinning your own yarn. Starting with the raw fleece you will develop the fibre and leave with a yarn ready to knit into your own project. Morning tea provided at each session. Inclusive cost for all 3 classes, all materials provided.

Class one (Wed 11 Sept)

Introduction to Sheep breeds and fleece qualities. Drum carding blending and aligning the fibres of Wool. Create beautiful colour mixes, blending rovings that will create unique yarns that can be used for future projects.

Class two (Wed 18 Sept)

Introduction to spinning. Spinning wheels and all other materials will be provided. Learn tension and rhythm with your foot pedal. Your rovings will become single yarn strands of interesting texture and weight.

Class three (Wed 25 Sept)

Further instruction and practice with the spinning wheel. Learn to ply your hand crafted yarn and gain more technical experience. You will leave with a yarn ready for a future project, and a love for the relaxing rhythm of the spinning wheel.
